Photolyase from Cyanobacteria (phrAC)

This is the photolyase from the Cyanobacterial strain Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

Usage and Biology

Photolyases are proteins that reverse the damage done to DNA by UV-B and UV-C radiation. UV radiation is known to cause thymine dimers in the DNA of organisms, leading to improper DNA replication. Using light energy, photolyases split the dimers, reverting the DNA to its original structure.
